Sarawak Cultural Immersion Trip 2010

25 Malay Cultural Society members and 3 teachers Secondary Two Express and Normal Academic Malay students went for an Educational and Cultural Immersion trip to Kuching, Sarawak for 4 days and 3 nights from 16th March till 19th March 2010. At Sarawak, we visited many interesting places such as the Sarawak Museum, Sarawak Cultural Village, Cat Museum, Waterfront and the Ana Rais Longhouse. While at the Sarawak Cultural Village, students were captivated by how people from the past decades built their houses using bamboo and ropes. We learnt that in Sarawak there are many different cultures such as Bidayuh, Iban, Penan, Melanau, Orang Ulu, Malays, Chinese and others. Each of this culture has their own way of living. Overall, we enjoyed our trip to Sarawak and learnt that people from different tribes have different cultures and practices. The trip was enjoyable, memorable and educational for both students and teachers. We hoped that we can go for another educational and enjoyable trip like this one.
